TEACHING & OUTREACH & CONCERT CLINICIAN WORK

Are you ready to nail your audition, learn a new song, or just have fun playing the clarinet?

Teaching music is such a gift! My aim is for my students to have fun and reach their musical dreams. I use a mix of pedagogy, my own techniques, and lesson books to provide insight on how to play the clarinet and how to practice.

  • lessons - Medina teaches remotely or in person! She works with students who are 10 years of age to 70 years of age and all ability levels!

  • coaching - As a seasoned chamber musician Medina provides coaching to ensembles for duo sonata to octets. We will focus on ensemble sound, rehearsal techniques, and nonverbal communication to prepare you to perform at your best.

  • outreach - Have Medina come to your classroom and enhance and energize your music program. She will help your students learn musical concepts, collaborate, and interact with one another to strengthen your music community.

  • residencies - Let Medina provide workshops and masterclasses, question-answer panels, navigate group projects, and guide your students on performing arts career strategies and build a road map to success.

  • masterclasses - Medina will work with your students on classical solo and chamber music repertoire

  • band clinician - Medina has experience in the band room from sectionals to marching band rehearsals. Have Medina help your woodwind section excel, have fun, and gain confidence.

COLLEGIATE RESIDENCY

  • RECITAL SERIES – a specially curated series of concerts that can span for a week, month, semester, or year that includes works for clarinet sonata duo, piano trio, mixed ensemble, or wind quintet.

  • LECTURE SERIES – an in-depth musical exploration that involves focusing on the composer’s life, a single work of music, or a particular era in classical music. Focuses could include perspectives on interpretation, history, and analysis.

  • HARMONIE MUSIK – a performance program that requires a larger number of students that illuminates the masterworks of large wind chamber pieces such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Dvorak. 

  • MASTER CLASSES – students will perform a single movement or a multi-movement work for clarinet or wind chamber music and will receive feedback on phrasing, style, technique, and chamber music fundamentals.

  • ENSEMBLE COACHINGS – this weekly to-semester program allows students to engage with their peers at a greater level, strengthening non-verbal communication, gaining greater insight into musical gestures, and creating a more distinctive ensemble sound. Ensemble coaching can also be sectional work for your large ensembles too!

  • COMPOSITION – faculty or student composers will receive feedback on technique, score preparation, and balance. Students will learn more about resources regarding the idiosyncrasies of the clarinet.
