My Story
Medina is an award-winning chamber musician and clarinetist who uses music as a catalyst to ignite the human spirit. Her playing has been described as: “…dynamic and exotic with the virtuosic writing pulled off flawlessly.” by the Examiner, “ethereal” by Sound Word Sight, and has been recognized for her “…extraordinary breath control” by the Classical Voice of North Carolina.
Medina works in a range of traditional mediums like the concert stage and pushes the boundaries of classical music with multidisciplinary collaborations. She was awarded, alongside composer Rachel Fogarty, the City Artist Corps Grant to present live multidisciplinary performance experience in New York City. Medina performed works of Schumann and Saariaho with the Persephone Trio for the Wolfson College of Cambridge University England. In past seasons she has worked alongside dancers, visual artists, and digital artists to recreate Igor Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring with artistic director and flutist of Chamber Music Silicon Valley, Ray Furuta, and composer Anthony Rivera. Medina extends the possibilities of chamber music by performing unique instrumental and voice combinations. Medina was a featured musician in the Chamber Music Society of New Paltz’s inaugural season showcasing music with countertenor, clarinet, and piano with artistic director, composer, and pianist Inessa Zaretsky and acclaimed operatic countertenor Nicholas Tamagna. Medina has performed in New York’s most prestigious halls: Lincoln Center’s Avery Fischer Hall, Carnegie Hall’s Stern Hall, Weil Recital Hall, Merkin Hall, and Symphony Space.
